Senator Michael Kirby
and Gery Barry, CEO of Liberty Health appointed to Castek
board
TORONTO - July 23, 2001 - A highly respected executive
from the insurance industry and a member of the Senate
of Canada with a strong background in business and technology
have been appointed to the board of directors of Castek
Software Factory Inc., Castek Chief Executive Officer
and co-founder Yung Wu has announced.
Gery J. Barry, president and CEO of Liberty Health,
of Toronto, and Senator Michael J.L. Kirby, of Ottawa,
have joined the board effective June 13, 2001.
Senator Kirby has a long track record of bringing government
and industry together since he was named to the Senate
in 1984. His extensive North American corporate experience
includes senior executive positions in key industries.
From 1994 to 1999, Senator Kirby was chair of the Senate
Committee on Banking, Trade and Commerce, where he helped
shape a new vision of Canadian banking reform. He is
currently chair of the Senate Committee on Social Affairs,
Science and Technology.
Barry brings a wide range of leadership experience
and insurance industry expertise, including executive
positions in both the U.S. and Canada. Since joining
Liberty Health in 1996, he has transformed the company
into a national leader in individual supplementary health
insurance and group life, health and disability insurance.
